Our CHARTER

YFC was established to provide volunteer opportunities for young adults of Indian origin to serve their community (young adults are defined as between the ages of 18 to 34, and they serve on an unpaid / charitable basis).

In addition to assisting the community, YFC has a responsibility to develop the youth of our communities.  YFC will instill a sense of volunteerism and community service that goes a long way in making young people responsible and well-rounded individuals and team players.  In the service of others, members get exposed to tasks and encounters that help develop leadership, respect, kindness, self-worth, confidence, and decision making skills.  This engagement by the youth will open up doors to further their college and career paths, while helping others in need.

Some of the types of activities that our members take part in are:

  • Assisting in health awareness events and fairs
  • Tutoring children in after-school programs
  • Conducting friendly visits to home-bound senior citizens
  • Reading and performing (plays / music) at hospice and out-patient facilities
  • Mentoring children (a la Big Brother)
  • Basic financial coaching
  • Helping other charitable organizations with targeted program development
  • Teach adult learners communication and reading
  • Providing administrative assistance
  • Arranging periodic celebrations for disadvantaged children as well as children with special medical conditions (such as picnics)
  • Clothing drives
  • Coordinating legal services where needed
